About

Hello!

My name is Gini, and I run Talk to Gini, a service dedicated to helping people live well with long-term health conditions. I offer psychological coaching and have spent years studying how we can thrive in the face of challenges. After facing my own issues with trauma and chronic illness, this helped me reclaim my life. This experience inspired me to train and support others on their journey to well-being.

Coaching psychology uses proven methods to help people learn, grow, and improve their lives. It’s all about focusing on solutions and moving forward, rather than dwelling on problems. Through this approach, clients can find new ways to manage their health, make lifestyle changes, and feel more in control of their condition.

Health psychology looks at understanding how psychological, physical, and social factors influence health, illness, and healthcare. It explores how people respond to being unwell, the ways in which they manage long-term conditions, and what motivates them to make positive lifestyle changes.

Using proven health and coaching psychological practices, I can help you develop coping skills, improve your quality of life, and promote overall well-being. Together we explore how you can overcome barriers to change, such as managing stress, building resilience, and fostering healthier habits.

I also take a practical approach with support that addresses social issues from looking at how to get the most out of your appointment to applying for welfare benefits and support and navigating the social care system.

My training encompasses various disciplines. I hold

1) A Bachelor of Science degree in psychology,
2) A master’s degree in health psychology,
3) A BPS-approved certificate in coaching,
4) Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society and
5) Associate membership of the International Society of Coaching Psychologist.

I also have a research background and keep my skillset up to date. I’ve received extra training in techniques like motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioural coaching, acceptance and commitment therapy and have accrued thousands of hours practice over the past 14 years. In the past, I led an award-winning service supporting those with heart conditions, and now I work on national health policies for mental health and dementia in Parkinson’s.

Living with a long-term condition myself and supporting family members has given me unique insights into what it’s really like. My approach is warm, compassionate, and centred around you. I value respect, responsibility, and appreciation in all my work. If you have any questions, please get in touch—I’d love to help you on your journey to better well-being.
